Project Brief

Project Title: One-Day WASH and Personal Hygiene Awareness Training for School Children and Women in Tajakot, Adanchuli, and Chankheli Rural Municipalities, Humla

Funding and Collaborating Partner: Kharpunath Rural Municipality, Humla

Fiscal Year: 2080/081 (2023/24)

Project Location: Kharpunath Rural Municipality, Humla District, Karnali Province

Project Duration: Up to the end of Ashadh 2081 (Mid-July 2024)

Objectives:- To raise awareness on WASH, personal hygiene, and ODF sustainability among school children and women in three rural municipalities of Humla.

Target Groups

  • School Children (Grades 8–12) and Community Women.

 Key Training Areas

  • Introduction to ODF declaration and its significance
  • Current sanitation practices in the community
  • Safe water handling and storage techniques
  • Menstrual hygiene management
  • Personal and household hygiene practices
  • Roles of schools and women in sustaining WASH improvements

Methodology

  • Interactive presentations
  • Group discussions
  • Demonstrations (e.g., handwashing, sanitary pad use)
  • Participatory evaluation of ODF status
  • IEC materials (posters, charts, leaflets)

Expected Outcomes

  • At least 150 participants trained in WASH and personal hygiene
  • Community-level understanding of gaps in ODF sustainability
  • Initiation of WASH promotion at school and household levels
  • Strengthened partnership between community actors and government bodies in sanitation initiatives

Monitoring and Evaluation

  • Pre- and post-tests for school participants
  • Feedback forms and verbal evaluations for women participants
  • Photo documentation and brief summary reports from each rural municipality
  • Final report submission to the Drinking Water, Irrigation, and Energy Development Office, Humla
